Being part of this World Cup is about more than just the opportunity to be part of great, highly competitive hockey. Powerhockey offers a unique experience relative to other para-sports.
- Distinctively inclusive – Competitive team parasport that is accessible to individuals with a wide range of disabilities. Many of our para-athletes are physically unable to participate in other more widely known Paralympic sports including wheelchair basketball, sledge hockey, and track and field.
- Builds Life Skills – Players meet and learn from others with a broad range of similar disabilities, developing many transferable skills including teamwork, collaboration, and analytical thinking.
- Community – Lifelong friends and relationships are fostered and a tight-knit community of players, coaches, volunteers and fans are formed, where it becomes more than just hockey
To allow Team Canada to participate in the World Cup and achieve this dream, we need your help. There are substantial costs associated with this tournament with the cost per player being $4,000. Additionally, many of our players must cover both their own costs and those of their attendants who assist with personal care while at the tournament. Many live on a fixed income due to their disability therefore don’t have the financial means to fund these additional expenses.
